Alkek One Student Gallery
2024 Proposal Deadline has passed
The Alkek One Student Gallery is located in the first floor lobby of the Alkek Library. Each fall, a call for proposals is issued and students submit ideas for creative projects to be included in the gallery installation for the following calendar year. The projects demonstrate how technology and creativity align using Alkek One resources and technologies.
Here are descriptions of some of our past winners.
ALKEK ONE STUDENT GALLERY GUIDELINES
- The submission period for 2024 proposals ended on Nov. 22, 2023.
- Selected works will be due April 2024 and will be displayed through the end of the calendar year.
- Multiple proposals are allowed.
- Proposal submissions can include a final creation, a draft or even just an idea.
- A creator's statement or written description of the idea must be included and should include the thought process for incorporating composition/design; emphasis, color use; contrast; and presentation.
- Selected participants will have access to Exhibit Mentors who will be available for consulting, guiding, and facilitating the creative products.
- Proposals should include a sketch of the project in the form of a photo or digital file and an optional sample of your work.
- The artwork will be displayed either digitally via a wall projector or physically placed in the gallery.
- Exhibits/displays may not promote partisan political, religious or social doctrines.
- Exhibits/displays may not promote the financial profit of an individual, organization, or commercial enterprise
- When a topic is of a sensitive or controversial nature, an objective presentation is required
- Some or all costs associated will with successful submissions may be covered by the library.
